Fábrica is a small village located between the country side and the natural reserve of Ria Formosa.
The name Fábrica ( factory) has its origin in an old ceramics factory that stop laboring in the XIX century.
The older village people are fisherman, getting their sustention of the sea and shellfish labor factory that once existed on the island and by the erosion of the sea disappeared many years ago.
Considered today a biologic an Natural Reserve has its own unique ecosystem.
The Fábrica area is very rich in, shellfish, widely known for its quality between the Portuguese its commerce covers not only Portugal but also exports to Europe.
The Fábrica area has natural hatcheries for Clams and Oysters, and is also rich in many sea species like Baby Clams, Razor fish, Trumpets, Sole fish, Eels, Striped Bream, etc.
The beautiful beaches and the rich Gastronomy, unique and different in all Algarve coast, makes this village one of the most wanted in the summer.
